For bids is vintage treasure from the 1970's. It's a pair of B&L Ray Ban Aviator Outdoorsman with the sunglass lens type considered to be the best ever made. That being the ambermatic lens. If you've ever worn a pair of ambermatics, you'll know why. Ambermatics are like candy for the eyes.

Ambermatic lenses self-adjust to just about any lighting situation you may encounter. They also get darker in colder temperatures making them the ideal lenses for the ski slopes or high mountain trails. And since these ambermatics have cable temples, you don't have to worry about them flying off your head during rigorous physical activity. But the best news about ambermatic lenses is that they provide 100% UV protection regardless of the lighting situation. So now you can have your eye candy and wear it too.

The 58mm lenses on these ambermatics have the B&L logo etch, but not the white Ray Ban script logo due to the fact they were made in the late 1970's before the Ray Ban script logo had been introduced. That makes these Ray Bans some of the first ambermatics made and new ambermatics haven't been made since the late 1990's when Ray Ban was sold to the European consortium Luxottica. Many sunglass manufacturers including Luxottica, have tried to imitate the ambermatic lens, but have ultimately fallen well short of the goal.
